[ Seasonal weather was still a fairly new phenomena to Dahna's children, and casual plans to camp outside had been utterly scuppered once the storm had rolled in overhead. Rinwell had a feeling they'd have been up well past their knees in mud if they'd stayed out in it much longer, and there was joint relief upon finding safe lodgings in one of the local villages. Tired and wet and cold, Rinwell was just grateful that they'd finally managed to find somewhere to rest with a roof over their heads.
The inn had just enough space to fit them in so long as they were happy to share. It hadn't really registered what the innkeeper had meant by that until they'd been shuffled inside and the door closed behind them. Small but blessedly warm, the room had a fireplace set in one wall, with just enough room for a table with two chairs, and a single bed in the corner beneath the shuttered window.
Maybe it's just a sign of how long they've been traveling companions (or, just as likely, how exhausted she is) that Rinwell takes stock of things, brushes back damp hair from her eyes, then moves to dump her pack in the corner without batting an eyelid. They'd slept in far worse places with less, after all. And at least they'd been able to clean off their boots before heading upstairs, tracking mud in here would have been extra mess to deal with! ]
Oh! [there's a dismayed look as she pulls open her pack.] Even with the extra precautions we took, I think everything's soaked through. It's going to take ages to dry out.
Do you think they'd give us some spare towels if I ask?
